Jon and Mark - Row the Danube

Our trustee Jon Cowie and his old uni friend Mark Hughes will attempt to row the entire Danube river next month. We are very

excited that Friends of Navajeevana is one of their two chosen charities, along with Cardiac Risk in the Young.

Jon says: “This monstrous challenge will be no minor feat. It will involve rowing 100km a day through 11 countries, and we will be battling fatigue, searing heat and unpredictable river conditions.”

Jon (top right) and Mark (bottom right) – both experienced oarsmen – are the first rowers to attempt this massive challenge so join us by supporting them via Facebook, Twitter, and their website.

The route will take them from Ulm in Germany on June 3rd, through Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Moldova, Ukraine, Romania across the Black Sea to finish in Istanbul a month later. Jon and Mark will be posting regular updates via GPS and social media.

If you would like to make a contribution to either of their chosen charities, please do so here:
